Three Years Straight!

Back in August, I mentioned that our last conference before COVID-19 was Pacific Rim International Conference on Disability & Diversity (PacRim) in beautiful, sunny Honolulu. After that conference and a quick bike ride UP 10,000 foot Mount Haleakala on Maui, it was right back to Seattle where we immediately had the country's first COVID-19 cases-- and a tight lockdown ever since. Ugh, my only bike rides since then have been on Zwift. But I digress...

This year, we're back to PacRim and, because this year's conference is all virtual, you should join us!

What is Converge Talking About?

Jeff and I have three quick presentations this year-- all on Tuesday, March 2.

  • Web Accessibility Legal Update (12p PST). I kick things off with an update on recent litigation involving web accessibility cases-- and answer questions like, "can I really be sued from 3,000 miles away by someone who has no intention of being my customer?" or "can I be sued while I'm still fixing my website after just settling another lawsuit?"
  • Clarifying WCAG and Creating a Culture of Web Accessibility (1p PST). Jeff and I then switch gears to talk about how to make the W3C's Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) more concrete in order to bolster compliance-- and do it in a way that makes it a combined effort with creative and QA team members so that developers don't get stuck with all of the work.
  • Practical First Steps for Achieving Web Accessibility and Avoiding Liability (2p PST). Jeff finishes off our triptych talking about how to start the journey towards web accessibility-- including some easy, inexpensive (potentially free) first steps you can take to avoid liability.
