The Accessing Higher Ground (AHG) Conference has long been one of the most important gatherings for professionals advancing accessibility in higher education, government, and technology. This year, we’re proud to share that Ken Nakata, co-founder of Converge Accessibility, will lead a key session designed to help public entities get started with digital accessibility under the Department of Justice’s new ADA Title II regulations.

The DOJ’s 2024 final rule formally adopts WCAG 2.1 Level A/AA as the legal accessibility standard for state and local governments. That change has created an urgent need for practical, actionable strategies—especially for agencies new to accessibility compliance.
Ken’s workshop, “Getting Started with Digital Accessibility: An Introductory Workshop on Complying with the New ADA Title II Regulations,” provides a step-by-step roadmap for organizations beginning their compliance journey.
Attendees will learn how to:
- Assess current digital systems and identify accessibility gaps
- Integrate accessibility into procurement and contracting
- Build sustainable governance and workflow processes
- Establish documentation and accountability frameworks
Rather than focusing solely on technical code or standards, this session will help agencies understand how to build a long-term accessibility program that meets regulatory requirements and delivers equitable digital experiences for all users.
